I have a Den anosmum/superbum that is currently in its winter rest. I haven't watered it much at all since the beginning of December. Most of the leaves have fallen off the new growths, as they should.
A few of the old canes that have already bloomed are now gradually turning yellow. They are shrivelled and hard. The newest canes are healthy. I'm assuming the plant is using the stored water and nutrients in the old canes. My question is, is this typical? Do the old canes normally die off or should they remain plump and alive? Thanks.
