I purchased this plant several years ago, but it never bloomed in the past. This is the first time it flowers in my garden. The reason that initiates its spike may be the hotter and drier weather in the past 2 months. However, its flowers are much different from most dendrobiums, but are still delicate and interesting.
The flowers are slight fragrant.
Dockrillia wassellii is a small-sized, creeping species found in northeast Australia.
They have terete, fleshy leaves, and like good drainage mediums. In fact, people here in Taiwan usually mount their plant on slabs to prevent rot roots.
If you ever grow B. nodosa, you could treat them the same way, but remember that keep them drier in about 1-2 months in early summer would help the spikes occur.
