Many thanks.
This is one of my favorites. After blooming strongly last summer it threw six keikis, one of which now is showing bloom buds after only seven months!. The parent is also in bloom again.

yamamotodendrobium.com

They carry den "Oriental Smile 'Fantasy' AD/AOS

I brought 8 den nobiles (from yamamoto) from US to my home in Mexico in Jun 07. All still alive but different degrees of health. Fortunately all have a new growth or one or two keikis so I can correct my initial mistake which was to plant them in small pumice rock. I'm going to the rock I use on catts(1/2") as I feel the small pumice held to much water.

I brought down another den nobile called but not registered as "Christina Princess" (also from yamamoto but I bought at Home Depot in Florida in 2001). From growing that plant I determined that I had a near perfect climate for den nobiles but didn't take into consideration that there were differences between them.

I found only one noid den nobile down here and it needs the rest/waterless treatment (I already have a dozen more blooming pots from my mistake of treating it as I had the Christina Princess which does just fine with twice a week water through winter.

Anyway the link above is my mother plant. Full bloom late January and still carrying 60-80 vigorous blooms today but only 2 keikis. I just went out and checked.
Wished for more as I only have about 6 offspring pots with two in good bloom this year.

The Den Nobile's I've seen get 15-18" tall (too tall), but this 'Fantasy' looks like it is a smaller plant.
Is this true, or an optical illusion caused by my insane desire for one??

Nice cluster of blooms and good color. I don't have any nobile types but guess I should get one, or two, or three.

Hello:

I also have this orchid but noticed that the leaves are getting yellow ( a bright yellow) and are falling off. Is that normal for this orchid?

Oldguypops, you are right. Den. Oriental Smile 'Fantasy' is a somewhat shorter variety at about one foot, I think. Maybe someone will correct me on the height if I am wrong.

And yes Newbyorchids, it is normal for the older canes to loose their leaves but they will continue to bloom on the old leafless canes. The canes produced this year should not be turning yellow though. They should stay green through next season or longer.
