Wind hit Dendrobium repotted
Default Wind hit Dendrobium repotted

This is NOID den. It had five flower spikes with lots of flowers back in the summer. They last for a long time too, about three months or more. They looked like either Genting Lipstick Green or Wooleng. then, again, it's just a guess as it came with no tag.

The new cane that grew during the summer showed some white streaking on the leaves, which freaked me out. I put the plant aside in the shaded corner. The plant stopped growing. I didn't water or anything. I loved the flowers and scent too much that it was hard for me to dump it. Then a neighbor volunteered to take it from me and put it in his south window.
The new growth started to take off and generated tons of new roots at the same time.

Anyway, I got a phone call from him the other day saying the plant got knocked over by the wind and I needed to come over. The whole thing came out of the pot. The old roots look all dry and dead to me, so I cut good chunk of it only leaving just a few for stability. I was about to dump it, but then I check the top end of the new cane, and lo and behold, there was a new flower spike developing. So I decided to keep it to see those beautiful flowers once again.

I also noticed that the bottom of the new cane had three eyes (or buds) swelling up.

The second from the last picture shows the plant repotted in a bigger and heavier pot. I hope it's not stressed too much since the cut off roots were already pretty much dead any way. I will find out soon.
Fingers crossed.

I hope so. The way leaves look really bothers me though. Roots are definitely healthy but I hear virused plants can grow perfectly normal without showing any bad signs. How strange!!!
