Thanks nutgirl. Makes me feel better. It's my only plant like this and first bloom so not sure how they act. The buds looked healthy up to yesterday when the one looks a bit sunken and I am sure it will blast.
NYCorchidman, It's in a fairly cool greenhouse with humidity in the 50 to 60 % range-not high but best I can do. I do have it on a warmer shelf with good air movement and good light. Maybe I should back it away from the T5. I just mist to let them get a wee bit more moisture and there are water containers on the shelves with the plants to help with humidity. The smaller buds still seem to be growing and reaching more for the light. Guess I'll just cross my fingers and wait and see. I can't believe how long these are taking and I keep wondering if they will ever actually open?? The plant looks quite healthy.

The humidity range you have is perfectly fine for the type of dendrobium you have. I have one white dendrobium hybrid spiking and it should open up in about two weeks or so. The humidity level I have here is about 50. no blasting ever!
You mentioned the plant being close to the light source.
It could be that the bud got damaged by being too close maybe?
Mine is growing by the window getting afternoon direct sun but it is week this time of the year.
How cool is your greenhouse? The lower the temperature, the slower the bud development. Too cool will cause bud blasting and even yellowing and dropping of leaves for these types of dendrobium hybrids. Their parents are mostly from warmer regions around Australia and tropical islands near Australia.
They don't take cool very well.
