I get quite a drop in night temps too so thanks for the info. I'll be away from home for a few days several times and I always notice the changes in growth so much more when I return. Better than staring at them every day watching them grow

I just snapped the spike clean off on my bigibbum hybrid.... I was moving plants around to make some space, and I hit the spike with a pot. And the buds were just starting to show color too.

Oh, I'm so sorry about that. I did that with a miltoniopsis. They seem so crisp and snap so easily. What a hearbreak.

alley, the spike is still progressing. It's about 4 inches long and the buds are tiny, but just starting to sort of separate up the length of the spike. The spike started in late or mid Sept. I would say I likely have to wait a few more weeks for blooms if not more. I am growing it cooler than some would as fall is here and it is in the greenhouse. I will post pictures when it blooms.

Ok, sounds great. My first den spiked about the same time as yours did. It's only a couple of inches long, but there's also 2 new spikes that have just formed. I'm excited to see what your den looks like once it blooms. Thanks for the reply!

Yours should be in bloom or very close by now.
So is it Enobi purple splash??
My Den. Chao Praya Gem has been growing a second spike in the past month and now the buds are being seperated. They should be in bloom any time now. Yay!!!

It is still slowly progressing. I think if it was growing in the ideal warmer conditions for it, it would be further along. But it grows in a fairly cool greenhouse over winter. The buds are still pretty small but are mostly green with a purple tip so I am assuming that means mainly white with purple edges.
I will definitely post a picture when they open.
I looked up the Chao Praya Gem and it is a cutie!
