Dendrobium Dang Yai pics
Only a few things in bloom right now, so I got this for 5 bucks at HD. It has another spike coming up, and it even has a tag! Although I'm not sure if the name is registered (anyone wanna help me out with that?). Anyhow, it's pretty small, and if it follows in suit with my other Phal Den it will bloom often.

WOW! you are lucky on this one to get a tag coming from HD...I am sure that is the correct name and was registered.
It is a beautiful cluster of blooms.

Thanks, Bud! Our Home Depots have tags on maybe 50% of their orchids, and the Phals are always tagless. And it seems the one that catches my eye if often one of the ones without a tag. It's hit and miss. I'm hoping this one will make a nice little specimen in a couple of years.

I have seen Den. Dang Yai being flasked by a Thai company, and it is registered in RHS...it means it is mass produced for this season only. Next season it will be another fad...hold on to that it will be a collector's item in 10 years...since they will stop making clones after next year. Its like fashion. The Channel vintage 50's is sought after in many fashion boutiques...maybe after 30 yrs your dendrobium will be a rare item.

Very interesting. That reminds me of the beanie baby hype of the 90s. But seriously, I guess that makes sense that they would roll 'em out for each season to see what sells.

Really pretty!
There is a Dang Toi registered in Singapore. That's the closest match I can find on the RHS register.

That's all I could find as well. Maybe it's just an industry name. I'll keep the tag and wait and see if the name turns up down the road.

Don't mean to burst the bubble, but IMHO I think what you have here is Den. Chao Praya. Google this name and have a look.
I have one of these. Picture attached.
Good luck

Thanks, Angela! Looks like the same bloom to me. Except my blooms are really small, only about an inch across. Could that be just because it's a first blooming for my plant, or do you think the blooms will continue to be this small?
