I noticed this growth a few weeks ago. At first I thought it was a spike... but flowered already in April! But now I guess it's a keiki??

It's producing two at the same time.

-Is this indeed a keiki? and
- is it a sign it's not doing too well?

oh wow! seriously!! I'd thought them too thick to be spikes! that's GREAT news! I really hope they are!

The last spike did not look like that though... so I guess it's just a matter of time...

I think it's a keiki (could definitely be wrong tho) - if it is, it's not something to worry about - looks like this is a den ? - many dens just like growing keikis

If you get lots of keikis instead of spikes, it still doesn't necessarily mean the plant is doing poorly, just that something in the culture wasn't right for getting blooms

let us know how this develops!

thanks, WhiteRabbit. Yes this is a NoID den and another of my adoptions... My avatar pic is one of its blooms in April.

I took another pic of the other mystery nub. I think it looks like it's gonna be a keiki *disappointment* lol

well, keikis are fun too

I'm certainly no expert tho - on my den kingianum, I can't tell if they are spikes or keikis til I either see roots or buds ... ;p and sometimes there are 'speikis'

I've got one of those comming myself
Don't be disapointed at the keiki, think of it as another blooming den some day or perhaps gift it to someone else - tell them it's fresh, you grew it yourself

Regards,
Gloria
