Hi,
After a certain amount of time, wouldn't the keiki start to show root's, where a spike wouldn't?

OR, I have no idea what I'm talking about.

GREAT NEWS!
here is an update, my 'keiki' is actually a spike! AND it's also growing roots!! what's up with that?! I didn't know spikes had roots!

this is one of the spikes, a week after the previous photos above...

these are the roots of that spike

and again:

and the second spike, which grew a little but is not growing as fast as the other (and it also has roots!):

oops, that didn't work out, let me try again

The first one is one of the spikes, a week after the previous photos above...

The second and third are the roots of that spike.

The fourth is the second spike, which grew a little but is not growing as fast as the other (and it also has roots!)

wow! keiki with a spike? I never heard of it! so does this mean it's going to eventually get leaves too? I thought spikes were only produced by mature growths?!

I've seen it happen plenty on phals, so why not a den? Yeah, eventually it'll grow leaves and the roots will become longer and plentiful, at which point I'd detach it from the mother plant and pot it up. Keep us posted!
