Default Dendrobium amboinensis : half day wonder

This is one of my favourite Dendrobiums. Flowers several times a year for half a day ... sometimes with 4 buds at once. It's a pain to photograph though

Thats is a pretty cool looking flower. I'm always amazed at how short some flowers last.

Good growing!!!!

That's a beautiful flower. Too bad that it's one of those don't blink or you'll miss it orchids. Beautiful non the less. Congrats on the bloom !!!

Very beautiful, Lars! Thank you for posting this, since most of us will never get a chance to see one of these in bloom at a show or botanical garden. Does it have a fragrance?

Yes, but a rather unpleasant chemical one.

Interesting, I wonder what the natural pollinator is? Now I'm intrigued, I'll have to look up some more on this species...

Half a day? Is that just what happens outside the natural environment? Like Nat said, how does that work with polinators. One and done... talk about a one night stand
