Default keikis on Dendrobium crepidatum

Does anybody grow this who can advise me about removing the keikis? Surprisingly, after flowering, it seems to be getting plantlets at each blooming node. If it were pierardii or one of the thin-caned Dendrobiums, I would just take off the whole cane and attach it to a mount, but the crepidatum has kind of thick, succulent canes (I refer to it as 'salad fingers'), and I'm kind of averse to cutting them off.
But in my (limited) experience, leaving the keikis on these deciduous Dends. radically decreases the flowering in the next year - I guess the calories go to the offshoots.
Thanks - Nancy

Hi Nancy, I'm surprised no one has comeforth with comments or suggestions. I was hoping to hear from some of the experts as my D. pulchellum, aka D. dalhousianum has 6 kikis that I want to remove, but hesitate without some guidance.

I cut a keiki off my son's Den. fimbriatum and the parent plant is showing no ill effects. It's a thin cane variety though.
