Default Some Dend moniliforme blooms

These are very compact Dends, mostly 3 to 4 inches in height. So far they seem to bloom best with a cool rest and plenty of neglect during the winter.

Dendrobium moniliforme 'Raizan'
This has more pink but it's hard to tell in the photo. Also very fragrant compared to my other varieties.

Dendrobium moniliforme 'Shokko Nishiki'
Leaves on the new growths start out green with white streaks and pink edges. As the growth matures the leaf turns solid green.

Dendrobium moniliforme 'Miyakohime'
My favorite out of my Dend mon bunch. The flowers are extremely small so it was difficult to get a clear close up. This one's a bit taller, about 6 inches.

Very nice Tracy.

Marlene got her first one from Glenn-san last fall; moniliforme 'Kintsuru'. A nice variegated leaf. I treat it like my Neos that it lives with but for some reason it keeps putting out new roots that dry up in a day or so like it is too dry. Is the humidity too low? Any thoughts?

Cheers.
Jim

Jim, I'm not sure. I've never really had humidity issues with my Dend mons. I'm not all that clear on culture for these either. I was told to grow them in moss and don't use fertilizer. Just water with plain tap. The only problem I get every year with these is spider mite damage. I've had the drying root issue with the neos before and that was indeed, due to low humidity.

Three words, Richard.
New World Orchids
Jason has these too but I'm not sure if he has these updated on the new website yet.
They are much cheaper overall, than neos. Go check 'em out

Yes, at least mine is. Too bad these aren't as popular as neos here. There are some really cool flower shape varieties available in Japan that we can't get in the U.S.
