I'm looking forward to trying 1 of these. I can just imagine how many different varieties there are in Japan. I'm growing Dendrobium anosum outside the house. It smells strongly of raspberries around its bloomtime in march. I assume these need to dry out in the fall and winter? What does raikan smell like? I think the most important factor for me in an orchid would be scent.

I have one mounted. By neglect, what specifically are you stating? Just curious? I understand they are semi-deciduous so I'm wondering what your culture/potting is in comparison to mounted/mine culture currently.

I'm not good at describing scents but I think it smells like a very light hint of roses.
Yes, I let them dry out with the neos.

I leave them alone during the winter months and don't water till they are crispy dry. No fert during this time and cool - cold temps. Some leaves yellow and fall off during this time. Come spring they bloom and grow new canes and leaves.

I agree. The overall form of these--both flowers and plant habit--is really pleasing, and who wouldn't like something that smells great and doesn't take up a lot of space? Congratulations on your blooms. Now I'm off to see if I can find a couple.

Thanks. These photos are from couple years ago. I'll try to get new photos of these on here later.
