According to an Orchid book that I have, it looks like a Yukidaruma 'King of Kings' and I think it is a nobile type.

Very nice! So far I just manage to get 2 or 4 blooms on the canes Did you change your culture to get this kind of performance from yours or do you have a secret?

The one on the right was given to me by my mother-in-law who first introduced me to Dendrobium. I think hers was an original. The flowers somehow look a little different.

The one on the left was bought from the annual flower show last year. It was shorter and had less flowers, maybe around 10. I just did the normal watering, plant food between May and September and this year they all bloom beautifully. I still have a few waiting for full bloom before I take pictures of them. Maybe the weather this year is perfect for them that's why they are in such full bloom.

I grow them indoors as we go to -40 in the winter. Do they get a dry cooler spell in winter in Hong Kong? Mine are at 55/65 night/day in the winter and are under t5 fluorescent light. they get a lot more heat and light in summer and also much more water and food. I'm trying to refine my culture for these as I did better than last year, but still not up there in flower count!

I think HK is really a good place for Dendros. I have mine on the balcony throughout. Our summer is like 80F/90F night/day and sometimes quite humid. We do have warmer winters (compared to yours) like 50F/60F night/day. The coldest seldom go lower than 40F and it is normally dry and a lot of sun. I do go low on water in the winter. Hope you'd get more flowers for the next bloom!!
