Potting d. cucullatum? Female
Default Potting d. cucullatum?

I received a d. cucullatum division recently (three canes/bulbs), and since it was in bud when I got it I just stuck it in an orchid pot with some sphagnum. So far it is doing great, I only soak it once a week and spray it every other day or so, but I would like to pot it in a tree fern pot I have. I just can't figure out which way to pot it. Is there a way to tell where new growths are going to come from, or should I just pot it however the roots fit best and just let it do it's thing?

Hi there Amanda.

I stuck mine in s/h until a new growth started and then I mounted it to some driftwood today. I just put the roots in the mount so that it looked like it was growing naturally down. Mine is pretty small still.

I would just mount it the way it looks the most "natural" to you.
