my plan is to mount on a pad of sphagnum and use DI water (as I do with all my babies)
I have heard these are difficult - congrats on a lovely bloom!
Do you know if chilling is needed?

Constant moisture is critically important - NEVER let them dry out completely. I grow mine in the basement - mid 60s to low 70s during the day, about 60 at night - during the winter, anyway.
I don't know what temps will do during the summer, if they get up into the high 70s, I'll start cooling somehow...

I have been making little adjustments to the setup to try to reduce temps, but I haven't had any real success yet. So far, the best I've been able to do is to avoid big increases in temps when the lights come on. I'm thinking about building a small in-line evaporative cooler setup that all the replacement air would draw through, but I haven't figured out the best way to do it yet. So many projects, so little time...

Very beautiful, and here I thought I didn't like any Dends. Thanks for the growing tips.

It gets too warm here for me to grow that one. I have an outdoor shadehouse and we get into the 100s at times.
I'll enjoy it through your pics though!

Sounds good to me! I'll do the same with people's big orchids.
My whole collection needs to fit in a 30-gallon aquarium. One big Phalaenopsis would take up my entire growing space!

my new purchase arrived today and I will endeavor to get it to bloom for me someday
The foliage is soooo tiny! I put a small paper clip next to it for comparison:

Beautiful. Wishing you the best of success with it! Three of mine have buds that have come since I bought the plants. Still too early to tell if I will succeed overall- they havent been through a summer here yet - but I am feeling good about their prospects.
