Some good, some didn't make it, some coming very slowly, but overall I'm happy, though I don't have any pictures at the moment. We are trying to get a list from Richard for a new order this spring if you're interested.

Thanks Ron. I am interested. I've got a cool growing set up in the experimental stage (still trying to figure out the lighting), and I'd love to grow Oxyglossums.

If you have the old list still, I'd be interested in seeing it as well, just as a reference.

I'll have to look and see if I still have it.

None of mine made it. All the plants were first time plants for me, I've never grown them before. I expected losses. If anything survived I'd have counted my blessings.

This was one of the reasons why I put up a small order to start off with. I'll try again another time.

As Ron suggested earlier, it's just safer to have these seedlings shipped in individual vials. They get very jumbled up in a community flask.

I'd do an order again from Equatorial Plants, but not right now.

Philip, what did you order? Did you get the community flask and think that was part of the problem?

Only with the Disa sagittalis.

The other part of the problem was I only purchased 6 seedlings of Disa sagittalis.

Do also keep in mind I've never grown a Disa species with a distinct dormancy period that goes deciduous before. Disa sagittalis apparently grows much, much drier than the evergreen stream side Disas such as Disa aurata, Disa cardinalis, Disa caulescens, Disa tripetaloides, Disa uncinata, and Disa uniflora.

Up till then, I've only grown Disa aurata, Disa cardinalis, and Disa tripetaloides.

Growing Disa sagittalis is much like growing some of the South African succulents, mostly because they come from similar habitats.

With the Dendrobium cyanocentrum, I only got one seedling. Same with the Oncidium coloratum.

They both do better grown mounted, I was growing them in tiny 1/2" plastic pots.

Also the amount of seedlings I got for all 3 species is actually rather low. I would've needed much, much more in order to guarantee some of them would survive.

Remember, with the survival of orchid seedlings it is purely a numbers game.

Next time, I'll just get more seedlings of each species.

Most of my oxyglossums died. The ones that did survive, agathodaemonis and another inconsequential species thats holding on but not growing well like the other species.

It'd be nice if there was a stiffer agar available for shipping reasons. Some of the Cattleya flask I've done from Gallup and Stribling had such a media (maybe Hill's?). I dont know if that is unsuitable for oxy species, but I've never had them disturbed in shipping.

Did you buy individual seedlings or flasks? Do the individual seedlings come in agar or just stored in tubes?

The individual tubes come with agar, but they don't get shaken up much during transit. The best looking ones from my lot were the ones sent in individual tubes.
