When to water a Dendrobium loddigesii in bud

Mine kept most of its leaves and formed new keikis galore, but it also bloomed most of December. That was a surprise because it had also bloomed in August. I think this was because of a cool spell we had in the summer (I then have it on my balcony). Don't give up, you may get flowers when you least expect it.
