Default Dendrobium Green Mist (convolutum x johnsoniae)

Bought this Dendrobium off eBay this week - it looks it great condition from the roots up and from what I can see of the roots they look ok but I haven't unpotted it yet to find out.

I hadn't seen this one before but the flowers, if I manage to grow any, should be white and green with purple veining.

It's currently potted in fine bark, which I may or may not go with - would be interested to hear what other people use.

This is the second orchid I've bought on eBay and so far I've only had positive experiences. This came beatifully packaged and it arrive pretty much overnight.

Overall very happy with my new addition.

Judging by the requirements and habits of Dendrobium convolutium and Dendrobium johnsoniae I'm guessing that my Dendronbium Green Mist will like to be kept somewhat on the moist side in medium light, and I'll hopefully get flowers that are long lasting. Fingers crossed!

I have my latouria dens potted in combo of perlite and pumice - I have read they dislike repotting, and having their roots messed with. All came potted in some gravelly chips and perlite. When I repotted, I just plunked it all in a slightly larger pot, and filled in with the pumice/perlite mix. And yes, they like to remain moist, and moderate light. Mine are in west facing windows, both windows get some early afternoon light, and shade later in the afternoon - one window gets a little more sun than the other. I don't have this particular hybrid, but do have a johnsoniae hybrid - I just love it!

Thanks for that info - I made an error in my previous post - it is in fine bark with perlite, so I'm glad to see that's how you grow yours (successfully).

Thanks again,

Nicky

Here's a photo of a flower.
Bright light, water well, good drainage.
Evergreen plants.

Which seller did you get it from? Looks like it's going to have gorgeous blooms!

Hi Camille,

I got if from Janets*orchids and that's about all I know - I had it shipped to my Mum's house - she's off work at the moment so I knew she'd be home to receive it. I asked her to take it out of the box, and then I left all the packing material behind including the info leaflet which possibly had her details on them. But I've done a bit of digging and the box (which I do have) has a return address to 'Plested' and a quick google reveals that Janet Plested is an RHS Orchid Judge...

All I can say is the plant looks really great, and it was beautifully packaged. And came in super quick time!

Nicky

I'll have a look at that seller. Always happy to have more places to shop at! Plested Orchids is a good UK grower. They're at a lot of shows there.

Good to know! I fully intended to bring all the info and post some feedback on here, but I was too concerned about the orchid in the car, plus the 4 NoIDs of Mum's that came with me for a repot, that I completely forgot! Anyway - you've completed the puzzle so now I know!
