Default Dendrobium aggregatum

A quick question ...where do the spike originate on this one from the base close to medium ...or do they emerge from spots along the swollen cane that look like small under developed eyes?

I noticed what appear to be eyes along the canes and recently they look like they are getting a bit larger like they are about to do something?
