Dendrobium bracteosum Male
Default Dendrobium bracteosum

Dendrobium bracteosum had several color varieties.
The red one was added to my collection last year and now bloomed for the first time.

I am coming to appreciate the beauty and variety of the many Dendrobiums to be found. This is a wonderful example of that beauty and variety. Does this Dendrobium have a rest period or is it purely evergreen? I would assume the later. Thank you for posting this flower! AL

I've had the pink form for years and, being desiduous, I've always given it a winter rest. The flowers tend to form on the leafless canes. But this year, after having been in bloom all summer, I was getting ready to put it to bed for the winter, and it started putting out a whole new set of flowers here and there. It's blooming even now. Therefore I've continued to water normally. I've been meaning to ask about this.
Some of the leaves on this last spring's new canes are starting to turn yellow and getting ready to drop - which is totally normal of course, but here it is January and the plant is putting out flowers too. Weird?
