Default Den. Theodore Takiguchi 'Splash'
This is a very old cross registered more than 50 years ago. I was given a keiki of the plant by old time orchid grower and hybridizer Francis Aisaka more than 30 years ago. The original plant was given a Judges' Commendation (JC) by the American Orchid Society in 1968. This is not a very easy plant to grow.

Beautiful!! Looks like the purple was airbrushed on. What is it that makes this plant hard to grow?

Thank you for the compliments. I think age has caught up with this plant. It is very slow growing and not often does it throw out a spray of flowers like that shown in the photo.
