Default Dendrobium Tropic House

I've only had this dend. for a little less than two years and it's quadrupled in size! 10 spikes this year and from the top spike to the bottom of the pot it's about 4 feet tall.

OMG! I'm so envious! I love dendrobiums... and this is stunning! How big was this when you got it? Do you have any culture tips to share? How often do you water, etc? Do you keep this outdoors or in a green house? Just lovely!! Thanks for posting!

Thank you! It only had three small canes when I got it. I had no idea they grew so huge! I grow it in my greenhouse year-round, it gets plenty of sunshine, I have it potted in coarse bark in a wood-slat basket and I water it about three times a week with diluted bloom-booster and regular orchid fertilizer.

Wow I can only hope my dendrobiums will grow like yours! I bet the greenhouse is a big help. One is in the plan for the future.....when the economy picks back up and my job is secure. I used to live in Ohio before I was into orchids...if only I grew orchids while living in Ohio...I'd have had so much fun!

Yes, but at a very diluted ratio. It may seem like a lot, but I've had better luck fertilizing at a weaker ratio more often than fertilizing at a stronger ratio less often.
