Does anyone have recent experience with culture for this little guy? I picked up one this weekend, and am trying to sort through the growing and ecosystem requirements based on forum member experience.
I just picked one up a few weeks ago from our local show. It had 3 buds, 2 of which blasted for me. I immediately repotted to s/h which may have played a role there. Its been near an east window on a heat mat (mat 85F-75F, air 75F-60F, day-night) and seems to be enjoying the spot. I'll post a pic of the flower when it opens.
I was thinking of getting one from Hausermann's recently. I read on IOSPE that it grows in pine and montane forests on Borneo. That means cool nights year round, which I can't give it. So I didn't get one.
There are quite a few threads devoted to this species here on OrchidBoard. These convinced me not to get one. A primary hybrid of this whose name I can't recall (Green Lantern maybe?) is said to be very similar in flower but much easier to grow.

Just opened in the last couple days. I can't take credit for this though, I purchased it when already in bud. Its been getting good morning sunlight and at times up to 90F temps (sun heats up room quite a bit) on a bright day. Humidity is close to 60% though, and good air movement. Overnight it gets down to 60F.
I have had one of these since Oct.,it was in bloom then. It had a mild winter rest but now has some new growth. I have mine in a mix of bark, charcoal, perlite and s.moss in a clay pot. Mine gets moderate light and no special temperature treatment.

Peng Seng is the primary of tobaense X cruentum which is nice and similar but the lip is not as interesting. There is also tobaense X draconis which I recently acquired
