Uh Thanks for that, Dennis. Personally I don't think anything is a must. There has been people on various forums who have not given the dry spells, instead gave them lower tempts and or higher lights & bloomed them.

Perhaps some need they drier period, some get by without?
I don't know - I've only got 1 "nobile" since last year. It is bloom size - I kept to the normal watering, high lights, it's grown new bulbs and has not yet flowered and it may not. If indeed it doesn't bloom soon, then next year I will go at it differently.

No doubt Gin, He has alot of knowlege under his belt.

This is the same Dr. Wang that has contributed / written the research articles in the Phalaenopsis Series. They are a series of articles that have been published in the past couple months Orchids magazine (AOS publication). They are excerpts from the actual research articles. His research is one of the firsts giving scientific data on the outcomes to various orchid culture criteria...ie. fertilizer dosages, affects of lighting, temp, etc (and those in the afore mentioned post). His data is being used big time in the MEGA orchid factories in places like Taiwan, China, Canada, and the US. These are the outfits that are producing millions of Phals (and others) for the mass markets.
