Dendrobium amboinense - what time of the day and how long does it flower?

I bought a Dendrobium amboinense in spring. It got two flower buds, but I have not seen it flower. One day, the flower bud looked as if it was going to flower soon. the next morning it appeared as if it had opened over night and had finished by the morning.

So I moved the plant inside to keep an eye on the second flower bud in the evening. It did not open that night or morning, but when I got back from work 8 hours later the same thing had happened. Flower appears to have opened and finished by the time I got home.

Must be an extremely short lived flower, a bit like some Diplocaulobium, which lasts for a few hours only.

Does anybody have any experiences? Can you share some tips? What time of day do they flower and for how long?

Flowers on our plant open shortly after midnight and, as the sectional name indicates, were completely closed by sundown.

It seems that my plany is a bit confused.

The only thing I can imagine is that maybe the plant has not yet fully grown on. We also had quite warm weather in the last few days. The plant had very few roots when I bought it and has not developed new growth yet. Guess that will come after the flower.
