Although it is listed as cool - intermediate, mine seems to do fine in the temperatures here (its hitting 90s during the hottest part of the day), but I do have a misting system on a timer which cools off the house.

Your blooms got most of the v-r color instead of gonzalesii (now reclassified as ceraula) which tends to be more fuchsia/pink with a white-ish lip.

Since it is drier in your neck of the woods, potted looks like it works just fine, but they are pendulous and will grow like a bush when they are rafted.

Good growing! Lovely blooms!
thanks Melissa

What conditions are best to get these guys to bloom? I have several dendrobiums of different types. Do they all need the same conditions?

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks, P
thanks Librarian - I'm afraid I don't know about all similar looking dens, if they want similar conditions or not, sorry. I do know both parents of Mingle's Sapphire like to remain moist, no winter watering rest. Mine gets moderately bright light - bright east or west facing window.
Do you have the names of yours? I'm sure there are people here that could likely help you out

Thanks Lorraine I'm very happy with the color - I have read color can vary from a pale lavender to deep indigo - I'm glad mine came out on the darker end of the spectrum

I'm new here and new to orchids. Have been ordering a few online and this one is on my wishlist. Clackamas Orchids is within driving distance for me and I'm going there to visit on Monday. So nice to see this one has grown and bloomed for you. Gives me the courage I need to forge ahead and develop my orchid collection. I started with some Phaleanopsis & am ready to add Dendrobium into the mix. Thanks For Sharing

That's great! I got mine from Clackamas Orchids (web order). It was listed as a seedling, but expected to bloom within the next year - and it did! Surprised me!

Well the tiny Laelia jongheana seedling I got from them is doing great - tho I have heard this can be a tricky plant to grow - I seemed to have lucked into keeping it happy so far. It's still has a bit of growing to do before becoming bloom size tho.

Thanks, I'll look that one up. What medium do you grow your Dendrobiums in? Bark?

I have my Phaleanopsis in Bark, but I just got some Coconut cubes and red lava stones & I was thinking of using that? What do you think?
