any suggestions on future vendors I could trust? I have purchased from nia, and a couple lovely's from shermantp and eorchids, and all of those were healthy & vibrant.

Live and learn, and love the little orchids : )

When pulling out the kabob stick you will be able to see whether it's in need of watering or not if you are unsure place on cheek you will feel a damp difference and will be able to determine "water me or wait". Make sure you place to kabob at an angle from side of pot to the lower middle of the potting mix.

If you like Dens you can't do any better than H&R in Oahu, HI. They have awesome plants, and the shipping really isn't too bad. http://www.hrnurseries.com/

ditto not your fault at all and just give her love she will make it ....My dens look pathetic in mid winter but spring kicks them right in gear.....full shade for mine and mist once a week at least but sometimes every day if really hot....and always with fertilizer mixed just like I would water with. There are differing opinions on that part but It seems to work for me and even if it dosent get in through the leaves ...lol it does get on medium from the misting too .
