Dendrobium aggregatum
Well, it doesn't look like the plant cares what it is called. It is blooming anyway.
I have one of these also and will be very happy when I see those spikes coming on. A couple of months ago at the HOS meeting, someone brought one and said she had been working with it for several years to get it to bloom and finally it had. I hope mine doesn't prove to be so difficult----and all of yours too.

THAT is sooo gorgeous! I'm so jealous!
Was just tending to some of my orchids and finally decided to try to figure out what the trick was to these little boogers. So I popped in here to question anyone about this exact plant and found this thread. LOL - Imagine that!
I've had mine over 2 years now and nothing. Nada. period. it just sits there. No growing no dying - I could almost say its a fake since it never changes. Its in a plastic 4in pot. I was told once that they don't like to be messed with, so I don't. I leave it set with good phal company. It watches them bloom and it still shows me NOTHING!!
Any idea's to boosts my little babies' self image would be greatly appreciated!
Hugs

My understanding is they like high light (much more than your Phals), lots of water in summer but with good drainage and a dry winter rest...
I just got a nice sized plant, so I'm fairly new to Den. aggragatum, anyone who has more experience, I'd love to hear too...

I've had mine on the North, West and now on the East side of my house. it gets pretty decent light there -- My phals should be moved, the leaves feel warm sometimes, altho they don't seem to be suffering, in fact a couple are going to bloom again.
Its been very warm so far this summer, not much of a rainy season like we usually get which cuts that heat, so the afternoon's stay warm. Soon I expect the weather to trend back to normal.

Hi JackiBlu,
I have mine on a square wood slated mount and growing right along with my Vandas. They get plenty of sun and fertalizer each week and being mounted, watered everyday. I just took another and mounted it on a new driftwood project. Same type of light, etc. No moss or other medium just the wood mount. This one is a little younger but I expect it to take off and bloom next year. Give it a try....just move it to a sunnier spot slowly so it won't get sunburn.
Take some pictures..that should boost that babies self image!

They resent being repotted- as I found out the hard way. Took a while to figure out what kind of water it wanted, and now that I've put on a sphag top dressing and have it in a miniature incubator/terrarium, it's FINALLY putting out new roots.
The roots only came after I started using a kelp-based rooting solution.

Thanks Lorraine -- I have a couple of these mounts here and hadn't used them yet. This will be included in my repotting project. Its just too dang hot for right now to repot anything that takes over 60 seconds. As you prolly know, this summer has been unlivable! Come on autumn/fall -- well, ok, our version of it.
Izzie - that is ***exactly**** what I was told -- don't bother them or they get uppity and pretend they are a faux orchid. But after 2 years could they still be all pissy coz I brought them home for some TLC? Hmph!
Well, I'm just hoping Lorraines' suggestion works and it decides it likes hanging around making pretty flowers.
