My first Den. spectabile bloom opened this morning.

Thanks. They kinda do look cuddly... unlike the spectabile that looks like it might bite.

LOL! yes, but that's the "charm" of the spectabile! I do llike that one very much too! I have a small spectabile seedling which I hope I can someday get to bloom Meanwhile, I'll enjoy photos of yours

Wonderful. I love them both, the spectabile is just so crazy looking and the aphyllum so fluffy.

Thank you. I'd heard that too. The plant was pretty small when I got it 20 months ago. I expected it wouldn't bloom for 2 or 3 years. It will be interesting to see how long the blooms last. They have a firm texture so I think they'll hang around for a while.
