Den. anosmum in full bloom
Den. anosmum (called honohono in Hawaii) is blooming at its peak in Hawaii. People like them not only for their beauty but also for their fragrance. Lavender is the most common color and the most fragrant but whites and pinks are also popular. Many backyard growers raise them because they are easy to grow and multiply. Unfortunately, the flowers do not last very long (about a week). Here is a photo of some well grown anosmums displayed at a Show on Oahu.

In most cases, the plants will drop most of their leaves. However, many of the growers now a days do not give their anosmums a rest. The plants are watered and fertilized all year round. That is probably the reason why the plants you see here have retained many of their leaves especially those in the upper parts of the canes. They continue to bloom beautifully though despite going against the rule.

Hi Hawaiian Sunshine. "The photo is beautiful. I have just received plants from Hawaii and one from a vender here in Mi. I want to repot mine when it is done blooming. On another orchid forums it is suggested to use a 2 litter soda bottle cut off the top and bottom and cover with landscaping fabric. Does this sound like a good way to repot?
