Dendrobium Help, please

I have a mature dendrobium aggregatum mounted. I cut out watering in the fall but misted once in a while. I see new roots in the tree fiber. How do you tell when to start watering in earnest again? This plant bloomed for me last year but I think it was by accident. I live in the Pacific Northwest(in the high desert) and grow in a greenhouse so the plant gets high light and lots of humidity. Thanks for any help...

Hi,

I have one mounted on a cedar plank. I water/spray lightly during the winter to keep the psuedobulbs from shriveling too much, but mostly I ignore it.

It is in a sunny south window all winter. Temps 60-65.

It is spiking now. As soon as I see signs of spikes I start regular water. A good soaking once a week and regular sprays every day or so.

As the temps warm it will get moved to my greenhouse and I will start soaking more frequently. It seems to take all the water I can give it during the summer.

Hi mojomick -
Your culture sounds right. I'm in the deep south, and I usually see buds initiating in late March, and the plant blooms towards the end of April.
Though a vendor (who is local) at our last meeting had one for sale, in bloom. So, as ever, they choose to be unpredictable.
What a spectacular sight in flower!
