Hi Guys and Gals,

I have a NOID dend that is doing well at the moment, just waiting for her to start showing signs of a spike. Lots of new growth etc.

While i was inspecting the plant this evening ( i cant help but look at them all daily) i dug around amongst the roots a little and found a nut like thing in all the bark.

Does anybody know what this is and is it normal?

I have attached pictures of the offending brown blob, the plant as a whole (about a month ago) and a picture of what the flowers look like. (I'm a bit gutted i didnt take a picture of her when she was in flower at purchase time.)

Thanks Ya'll

Sam

Hi, sorry can't help & have No idea if it's a seed of some sort which has sprouted a root or if it's a root off the plant going into ..a ? seed pod, piece of bark that's shaped like a sort of ball ???? have you tried to see if the root comes from the plant? If it were mine i'd try gently pulling on it (the root & or the 'pod' bit).... Someone may know...keep us posted.

It looks like something that got mixed in to the potting media and the orchid's root attached itself to it.

I have tried a little pull on it and the root is firmly in there.

The root that is going into the lump, is about an inch long from the base of the plant and then goes straight into the rounded end of this thing.

All the bark in my pot is very "bark like" shapes (chips and angular) and this is pretty much the shape and size of an Almond in its shell just a bit fatter.

It feels pretty solid and smooth and is quite heavy compared to the bark.

Oh well i guess well just have to wait and see...kinda exciting!

Thanks anyway!

Sam
