New Den Phal Hybrid - 'Anna' Green
One of the many orchids which followed me home today is this really pretty Den Phal type Hybrid.
I just love the yellowy green contrasting with the deep purple of the lip. These pics have come out pretty true to what it looks like.
The main spike is already fully open, but there is a second spike with about 10 buds waiting to open.
I've not thought of a name for it yet (I always name NoIDs) so anyone got any ideas?

Thanks Katie,
I've actually decided that this may not be completely a NoID, although the name I now have is probably a trade name.
I've looked on the growers website and they call it Den 'Anna' Green. The same Den is also available on other UK websites.
So that's the name I'm going to give it now.
The one in my avatar is Den Polar Fire, another one quite popular on UK websites. No idea if it's available in the USA. BUT it looked very different last year (like the ones on website pics), this year the exact same plant has produced quite different flowers. Take a look at this thread to see the comparison of last year and this year. This years flowers improved as they matured after the comparison shot was taken but the change in pattening has remained.

Holy smokes Rosie! It's like they are two different plants, and yet they aren't. So bizarre! I love the contrasting colors. I'm gonna have to do some searching b/c I really want it! How large does it get?
Thanx-
Katie

Definately the same plant. The cane with the new flowers is visibly attached to the cane which flowered last year and I only had one Den when it started to flower this year. (The new one today is the third).
The largest cane is 15" plus the spike. The spike would be about 10" if it was straight but I let it curve naturally towards the light.

Great find Rosie. An(na) Noid (Annoyed) is a bit of a sad name, I like Anna Green much better! ;-)

Thanks everyone.
Brookpoint, this was just a local garden center one.
Melissa, our big box stores don't usually carry good stuff, nor do the garden centers. That's where I got caught out... I went in to the garden center expecting them to just have NoID Phals and geared up to resit those... then they had sooo many nice non-phal orchids and I came home with 6 different chids!
