Default Help, is flower ok Den. compactum?

everyone,
My Den. compactum flowers haven't continued opening over the last few days. Does it look like there is a problem? or, do they sometimes take time to open? I thought 3 days was a bit long to stay exactly the same.
Thanks
Helen

Hi Helen,
Looking at the photo at orchidspecies, it seems like the flowers don't open very widely. http://www.orchidspecies.com/orphotdir/dencompactum.jpg I can't really see how wide yours have opened though . Have you seen this plant in bloom before? If so, you're the best judge about how wide they should open!!

Thanks for your reply, yes I purchased it last Feb. in bloom and it looked normal. I'm just wondering if as days go on it may open more..The temp has dropped here in Canada and the humidity is down in the house and the heat is blowing constantly now. Maybe that's it?
Here's another frontal photo (sorry it's a bit blurry!). The last photo is one I took when I first bought it...you can see a big difference.
I'm going to mist the flowers today and keep a fan running. Hope this is ok to do..!!

Hey Helen
Seeing the photo of the plant in bloom when you got it does give a bigger picture The new blooms seem wilted, do they feel soft or firm to the touch? My experience with buds is that they take around a day to open fully (with small blooms that is). So I'm not really sure what's wrong with your plant

Thanks to everyone for your input. It was hard to tell if the blooms looked soft, they seemed to look like the petals/sepals were glued together. I misted lightly a few times a day and kept a fan running. After about 5 days they opened! hooray..but, i did lose one, as the stem of the bloom turned yellow...I may have knocked it on something as I kept taking it in and out to have a good look ....probably did'nt help the situation! I still have 3 lovely blooms left.
Again thanks! All I needed was PATIENCE!
