Default Beware The Giant Dendrobiums!

These guys just keep going...and going...and going!
They all have crazy spikes popping out, 7 or 8 each!

It gets harder and harder to protect them in winter but I love them too much to even think of parting with any of them

From left to right (pots on the ground), they are: Den Coleman x Den Genting Green, (the next one has 3 spikes but is not blooming yet, can't remember the name right now ), Den Nopporn Pink and Den Zengyo Pink

Hanging on the rack is Gramm scriptum v. citrinum and Brassavola digbyana
On the bottom shelf is a cactus

Cool

Oh Susanne I know what you mean. They know no limits . I have three of these giants but I love the flowers. I got mine from Carmela's and for the price of $10 & $15 I didn't think they would be very big DUH!!! The box they came in was so big. I have trouble keeping them from tipping over.

Yours are beauties...
Sheridan

Wow! They look great!

Reminds me of the ones I see at Al's orchid greenhouse. He's got them in LECA in 8 inch clay azalea pots. It's the only way he can keep them from tipping. When they bloom, they look fabulous.

Cheers.
Jim

These are all tied with wire to the rack which is attached to the poolcage frame. It's the only way to keep them standing up on a windy day. Before I started tying them, one fell and there was aliflor all over

I was going to sell my big Den last spring but like you I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I did divide it and repot to keep it's size somewhat manageable.

That white one is amazing! It's so tall and floriforous!

Susanne, I parted with mine because they kept taking up more and more room in the greenhouse and like you, I really did like them. (Ease of care and tons of blooms) I gave most of mine to the local society and they filled the back of a pick-up truck. I had three of the black/purple and a couple of gold/green with purple lip that I just had to keep. If I can get a good picture of the black/purple I will post a picture. The flower is soooo nice.
