This plant was bought on e-bay about a year ago, and has turned out to be one of my more positive experiences on e-bay. Not sure why the flower spikes choose to grow in such weird directions!!???

I have a Burana Stripe, which is similar to yours (but with a lot more white). LOL...The spikes do tend to grow in odd places.

I love striped pink dendrobiums. Your plant looks very nice.

The spikes tend to grow towards the light, so that is why they took that direction. Beautiful den. you have, we refer to it as candy stripes.

who did you buy it from on ebay? was it small and did it take one year to bloom?

i like the random direction. looks very natural.
how do you grow it?

Don't know what the ancestral species are, but looks like there is Den bigibbum (based on size, color and the lateral spiking habit. The stripes ultimately go way back to Den bifalce.

I bought plant on ebay from a greenhouse called Macrovulgaris in British Columbia, Canada. They were clearing out their plants as I think they were going out of business. Not too sure. The tag also has a website that I've never checked out cPanel. The plant is fairly small and hasn't grown much since I got it. 3 canes (one almost dried out) approx 8 or 9 inches high. It has taken pretty much a year to bloom for me. I grow in s/west window in sphag with clay pellets (will repot to bark mix once done blooming as not having good luck with sphag in most cases). Started spiking while outside this summer in my arbour.

Brenda, the flowers are beautiful and not to worry about the weird directions. What is important, the flowers are real beauty which much to be admired.

Yes, I guess I should be thankful that they're there at all. Will post another picture once all buds are open, a couple more to go.

Ok, all buds now open, 9 flowers on 2 spikes. Really am appreciating these flowers as our weather cools...a rainy dark day.
