Hi Rosie
What lovely flowers on a compact plant. I would consider this a keeper since it blooms in the darkest
months when we need it the most.
There are some reddish pigments in flowers that are temperature dependent and only become dominant with colder temperatures. This has been often reported in the literature and will quote them if I can find it again. I too had the same experience of significantly stronger pink/red tones even with flowers that are commonly white, not only with orchids, but other flowers including roses.

That's interesting because, of course, as well as less light this has been in colder temps while the flowers developed than last year.
Last year I bought it in bloom in August. This year the spike did not start developing till late september. I was worried about the buds blasting due to the colder temps.

Rosie, what a great choice! I also like the framing of the photo.
Junebug, do you mean that dendrobium hybrids that resemble more the Den. nobile that were fragrant? Because I never had ones with this flower shape that had any fragrance but would love to get some.

So far, I've identified 2 frangrant Dendrobiums in my collection. They're both colorful Noid hybrids and both look to be Phal types with some Antelope influence.
