An interesting dendrobium

It is a cultural variety of phal-type dendrobium hybird.
We call it the rose-flowerr dendrobium because of its flower shape.

Pheli. Your flower is certainly very interesting.

However, when the flower form is compared to the original Den phal hybrid from which it was cloned, the fact is that this flower has severely mutated and is very deformed (again when compared to the original).

When an orchid plant is mericloned, the intent is to produce an almost exact replica of the original. If very large numbers of plants are mericloned from a single ex plant, and very powerful chemicals are used to stimulate rapid reproduction in vitro, then severe mutations such as this can occur.

As a matter of fact, I took this photo at a friend's garden.
It is a mutated one but it seems that some people love it and there are some plants available here in our flower markets.
