Dend. smillieae is a very large sized dendrobium. I love it very much but I am not able to grow this beauty because the winter where I live is too cold for it.

The photo was taken at my friend's garden. The plants are very large, almost as high as an adult man.

There are different types of Den smilliae. The very tall type you picture can get to be about 4 feet tall ... maybe more, but it also has very large flowers.
A second type is much shorter, maybe only 2 feet tall, with more flowers, but smaller in size.
The two basic types also are easy to cross, producing 2 to 2-1/2 feet canes with flowers that are in between in size. They are all very easy to grow and bloom.
A little warning, don't cut off the canes that have dropped their leaves. While the plant continually produces new canes, the blooms are on the mature bare canes.
