Default This Den could easily be confused for a cattleya.

You could easily mistake these flowers as a Cattleya. The flowers are huge, measuring almost 5 inches across. There are five flowers on one inflorescence. The stalk that the inflorescence is on is 30 inches tall. This plant is more than 10 years old.

If I couldn't see the cane it was sitting on, I would be completely fooled.

Thanks again. Your plants are awesome.

Wow, you're right. The flowers on their own could easily be from a catt. They are also stunning, I love the yellow and white combo.

You sure have a knack with these! Absolutely spectacular!

(for those who are curious, this is formosum x infundibulum, a cross made in the 60s)

A very gorgeous Dend Formidible.

There is a few Cattleya-like Dens out there, but by far yours show the most amazing similarities.

How do you grow this beauty?

Hi. Thank you for your comments. I grow my Formidible with my other Dendrobiums and Cattleyas. They are under 50% shade cloth. I fertilize weekly, all year round with foliar fertilizer (13-3-15). The plant is grown in a plastic pot with orchid bark as the media. The plant is an old mericlone, probaly more than 15 years old. I have not seen other plants of this clone around. The plant blooms during the summer, usually in June. The flowers will last for a couple of months.
