watering depends on how warm it is - on hot days, a quick hello is in order. In summer, normally 2-3 times a week. Now that it is cooler and rainy, maybe once a week, but only if the potting mix seems too dry. My plant is in a basket, so it can dry out quickly - I try always to check the the potting mix before deciding to water or not. Rule of thumb: evenly moist, but not water logged. Enjoy!

Stefano, dr dmd has given you some good culture tips.
I would also suggest you to let the plant dry out between waterings. Keeping it drier in the winter months is benefitial.

How small is it/how many growths? This species do bloom when it is only 4" tall.
If it is not too small, I would keep it drier during the colder months.

i am attaching some photos...
think I may have kept it a bit dry in the beginning as the media is coarse... now seems to be growing and as i keep it insie under lights by south window maybe i should let it grom more and wait till mid december for a rest?
I include photos of den anosmum and loddigesii...
I also had a couple of extra small keikis and i put [ i know this might be blasphemous to some] a den loddigesii small keiki and an epicattleya keiki in the same coconut with some LECA, spanish moss and bark. The Epic looks more like a reed stem epidendrum than anything else.

It looks like a blooming size plant to me.
I will start to reduce the watering after the growths are fully mature. I water mine(on stick mount) once a week under my condition.

thanks
i am not sure how much the roots are established. what period of the year and under what temperature do you water it once a week? do you moist it also with a spray bottle?
do you let the mount go totally dry? what about the other 2 I have?
anyway i think just recently the leaves started being a bit more lush and turgid so I have doubts re winter rest while it may be actively growing...

Even during winter rest, a light mist once in a while is a good idea - dry doesn't mean bone dry, it just means drier. If we remember that SE Asia has heavey rains during the summer monsoon season, and that winter is dry and cool, you'll get the idea. During that dry season, there is still dew which forms at night and provides moisture to the plants. Just don't water as you do in hot weather, and stop fertilizing as well. Hope this helps!

OK can you let me know how much would you water these when it if 75 / 85 degrees?
have a few vandas that every few days i put under the shower head [mist mode] for 10 min.
the dens I submerge in a container with water for a few minutes 1 or 2 times a week.
and during winter i can use the mist bottle. but would you do it every other day?
after all they sit under my vandas so probably some drops fall off.
Could I start the rest in December and let the Dens grow a bit more roots?
thanks for the advice... just been doing this for a few months
