Both parents, formosum and cruentum, are evergreen. The hybrid prefers warm growing conditions, although the upper intermediate range is ok. When properly conditioned, plants can grow in full sun. Many years ago a friend took one of our plants to Trinidad. He said he grew it in full sun and a year later told me: "de damm plant won't stop bloomin!"
However, most of the Dawn Marees have a bad habit, from the formosum parent ,of only blooming directly from the canes at the top portion of a fairly large plant.
