Noel,
I think your climate will be good for those plants, but I hope someone from that part of the world will chime in with their opinion. Good luck and post some pictures when you are all set up.

Hi noel,

I think most of the orchids you're getting are those of warm growing species. They do best in cooler climate. If grown in your condition, they might not flower unless there is sudden drop in temperature.

For aphyllum, I think there should be no problem. I've seen one blooming near coastal area. Best if you consult the vendor of the orchid growing conditions.

Might not be the best way to create cooler evening. Watering in the evening could trigger rot and fungus growth.

I've heard a guy in Jakarta area water his orchid around 5 AM with cool water. The orchids won't be soaked for too long as the temperature is going up with the sun rising. But only do this if the weather is not cloudy or after rain.

too much water = bad for chids.

aphyllum, lindleyi, moschatum and specially sanguinolentum are present in southern Thailand , that's mean not too far from your climate. But, there is a "rest" period of 2 or 3 months in winter with absolutly no rain. For myself, I do this rest but I read on this forum that some poeple don't.

i see some people have small pond to create more humidity for their plants. some books says plant shady plants beneath the bench. most shady plants need lots of water.

for myself, i water in the late afternoon - about 5 to 6 pm since i am a late riser and i go to work. except on weekend and holidays... but my place have lots of wind. my chid dry rather very quickly

or maybe you can try mist fan... or usual fan
