Dend. friedericksianum Male
Default Dend. friedericksianum

It is a large sized dendrobium that is an easy species to cultivate here. It tolerates the cold winter and also the hot summer. However there were few people growing them because it used to be a costy one and also not easy to find here.

Very nice!
It's lovely to see your plants growing.
Do you grow them outside, or do you have a greenhouse ?

I do not have a greenhouse for my orchids but the climate here is subtropical monsoon type which allows me to grow some orchids without equipment.

Philippe
Like other nobile dendrobiums, Dend. friedericksianum has a winter rest.
My plants usually stop growing in late autumn and have their new growths in early summer.
I don't know if this species will have a winter rest in tropical areas like your country. But a friend in south Taiwan grows this species, too. He said that his plant didn't stop growing in winter but grew slowly.
Anyway, you can follow the rules for the nobile dendrobiums. That will be helpful.
