Greetings -
I've been growing one for a few years, and it should, I think, be blooming sized. Hard to tell, looking at those luridly fuzzy flower photos!
Perhaps someone who has flowered this rascal can give me some idea how large a plant it needs to be - number and size of pseudobulbs, etc. And if there is any little thing that I need to kick-start it?
Thanks - Nancy
Mine was in a 4 inch pot when I bought it in late fall, and it probably doubled in the amount of pseudos over the winter; however, most of those got frost burned and died off, it added more pseudos in the spring and bloomed at the same time, and has now been blooming and putting out new pseudos every 6 months.
I grow mine (like everything else) in very bright light, warm, and lots of water.
Good luck with your blooming!
Hi Laura - so maybe I am not abusing it enough!
Mine may be similar in size to yours - it has 20 or so mature growths and 5-6 new ones. I like the species dendrobiums a lot, but some are a little tricky to get a handle on blooming!
My cultural choices are hot, wet and bright most of the time.
I will go talk to it. Nancy
Sounds like they are similar in size, mine is putting out new growths now and I just noticed yesterday that I have quite a few spikes started also!
Dens can be tricky, but all of mine are grown mostly the same, especially this time of year...I do also have long talks with them, so that might help more than anything!
