Dend. parishii

Dend. parishii is a medium sized or small sized species that are commonly grown here. The fragrance is wonderful but some people may seem to be sensitive to it and dislike it.

How large is this particular plant? (The flowers are lovely by the way.) I've had one for about 3 and a half years which hasn't done much of anything. There are about 5 short (3 inch long) canes, the last of which went completely deciduous over a year ago. Since then there has been zero action in terms of new growth. Nothing happened last spring/summer at all - like it was in a coma. It has always hung in a south/east facing window getting bright direct morning light and I never gave it any winter rest. However, starting about 3 or 4 weeks ago I put it in an opposite window where it gets bright afternoon sun and stopped watering it completely. Just yesterday, I noticed the appearance of some new growth sprouting (yay!), and maybe even the beginings of a spike growing from a node of one of the leafless canes. (double yay!)
Is it possible that just that short of a much delayed "rest" might have been what did the trick? I'll post photos after the new growths have developed a bit more.

Looks great and I cant believe that there are people that dont like the fragrance! Thats amazing!

I give my parishii and anosmums very dry winters (ie. no water) and they do very well with a severe rest.

The canes of my plant are about 5" long.
As Steve mentioned, Dend. parishii likes dry winter and I think it also likes stronger light in autumn and winter.

Another plant bloomed.
The plant is very compact, less than 10 cm tall. Because of my poor growing, it had few blooms.
