Okay so I haven't heard of this happening but I wanted to ask. I believe I have a Burana Sunshine and it of course... has a leaf problem. There are three stalks; one shrivled and older with four leaves, one that is also older but very tall, and then a new stalk that is growing beautifully. The tallest and most previously bloomed stalk has begun losing it's leaves but the other two look wonderful. Is this just a natural thing for only one stalk to be losing leaves? I will admit I've never had a den with many stalks but I just wanted some advice.

Thank you!

A similar situation happened with one of my Dends. While trying to diagnose the problem I gave the cane a gentle jiggle and discovered it was cracked near the base of the plant. The injury was internal and not visible from the outside with the exception of some narrow vertical fissures. The fissures were so minor that they looked like the beginnings of the natural shriveling of an aging cane. My treatment was to splint the cane and pray for recovery but my efforts failed. Eventually the injured area began to yellow and I removed it from the plant at the point of injury. The Dendrobium went on with life and produced new canes and even bloomed.
Greetings. I have a Den. Super Star x Ise 'Pearl' and a Den. mohlianum x Den. sulawesiense both of which have bare stalks and stalks in full leaf all of which are quite "happy". Presently both have "bare" stalks that are currently carrying flowers. I, personally wouldn't be alarmed. Just let them carry on what they are doing. Sounds only natural to me.
I have a number of Dens...species and hybrids...large and small...and they all lose their leaves eventually.
The hard cane Den's leaves sometimes start turning yellow, sometimes there's a little red streaking in them. I remove them myself and the plants are all fine...and growing like mad!
Just as an update:
Absolutely no cracking. The plant is looking beautiful, and I mean beautiful! The newest stalk is just taking off and is a nice glossy lightish green.
