Wow, what a Dendrobium
This Dendrobium is Gatton Sunray, a cross of Den. Pulchellum x Den. Illustre, that has a FCC. It can get quite large, (This plant is four feet and is in a six in. pot.) but is a very compact upright grower so the used space is vertical. Growing this plant couldn't be easier because mother nature does all of the work. In this area all you have to do is leave it outside where it gets lots of summer rain and a dry winter rest. In the spring when the species dendrobiums are putting on a great show so is this plant. The flowers are three inches and are a heavy waxy texture with the awesome burgandy in the lip that has a very hairy texture. This is the first spike to bloom but there are ten others to look forward to. This is a very old hybrid that was registered in 1919 and is difficult now to find.

For some peculiar reason this close up would not load on the first post so I am re-submitting.
