Growing this plant couldn't be easier because mother nature does all of the work. In this area all you have to do is leave it outside where it gets lots of summer rain and a dry winter rest. In the spring when the species dendrobiums are putting on a great show so is this plant. The flowers are three inches and are a heavy waxy texture with the awesome burgandy in the lip that has a very hairy texture. This is the first spike to bloom but there are ten others to look forward to. This is a very old hybrid that was registered in 1919 and is difficult now to find.
Hi. Mine has been sitting the same since last year, fresh green leaves and no buds no new growths . Do I need to give a good dry season? Who do you grow it? Thanks

Unfortunately, all that I have left of this plant is two one foot canes. It grew outdoors and it was outside a couple of years ago when we had temps in the mid twenties one night. I was away and couldn't protect it.

I give the plant no water from mid November to Mid February and of course, protect from freezing temps. It enjoyed growing in full Florida sun with frequent and abundant watering and fertilizing. This plant enjoys basically the same treatment as the Nobile Dendrobiums.

I am hoping for at least one spike from my small, new plant this year.

I give the plant
